Born in Roanoke Virginia, Lloyd Robrecht returned to the area in 2002 after living in a variety of places including St. Simon’s Island, GA, Atlanta, New Orleans, and Koshigaya, Japan. He holds a B.A. degree in Psychology from Hampden-Sydney College and a Masters degree from Tulane University. He works as a Mental Health Professional.
Beginning the study of martial arts in 1980, Lloyd feels blessed to have been taught by highly skilled, reality based, professional instructors, and to have been exposed to true mastery while living in Japan. From that time Lloyd had sought to increase his understanding of the depths of the Japanese “Koryu” (old tradition) Arts.
Rather than regurgitate a “martial arts resume” it is important for Lloyd to acknowledge that his meeting Vladimir Vasiliev in 2001 was the turning point in his understanding of the martial arts’ true nature.
While desiring to learn from all viable sources and life experiences, he views the Russian Martial Art of Systema as the distinguishing source for his personal growth and learning. Lloyd hopes to maintain two primary attitudes in his training:
1) Always a beginner
2) The biggest room in The World is the room for improvement
